I hear it all the time when meeting with new clients: “I’ve had a previously bad experience with tox, so I’m a little nervous.”
What exactly are people talking about when they say “bad experience”? The number one complaint I hear is that they felt too “heavy” with previous treatments. This is followed closely by “My eyelids got more hooded,” “My eyebrow went crazy,” “My lines didn’t go away,” “I didn’t feel listened to,” and “My injector was rushed.”
I live for the feedback. It gives me insight into what’s important to each client and gives me a heads-up on how their face might respond to different modalities. Good news! These problems have solutions!
Often, people are overtreated with too much tox for what results they are looking for. Some people do like the ‘frozen’ look and feel (and all the power to them for knowing what they like!), but most people are looking for a more natural and soft look. At Moxie, we strive to give you the results you want with the least amount of tox possible, a more conservative approach, if you will. However, there is a catch… with tox, the dose does equal duration. That means the more tox you get, the longer your treatment tends to last. What does that mean for those of us who want a more subtle and natural look? You may need to come more often (2.5-3 months versus 3.5-4 months), but you’ll spend less at each visit, and you will be able to enjoy a more consistent look with layered treatments. I can’t tell you how many times clients have come from other Med Spas where they have received 60+ units of tox, and I am able to give them the look they want with 40. More doesn’t always equal better.
Where and how much tox is placed in each injection site is where we are able to help avoid eyelid hooding, spocking of eyebrows, and those overall heavy sensations. There are certain places on the face where injections should be done deeper or more superficially, depending on the underlying anatomy. All of these factors and nuances matter! You will never find an injector at Moxie who doesn’t have a deep understanding and appreciation for the fundamentals of anatomy. In fact, we have all invested in doing cadaver labs and other experienced injector training (in addition to our years of experience) for this very purpose! All the additional training and education we continuously invest into our skills as injectors directly translates to your results.
As far as their personal experience at other places that made them unheard, rushed, or oversold? That problem should take care of itself at Moxie. The best part of our job is getting to know our clients. We often know about their families, pets, current events, etc. We make time to get to know you and strive to make every visit with us the absolute best!
