BBL laser technology is best for patients seeking improvement with hyperpigmentation, redness, facial vessels, loss of elasticity, acne, and rosacea. It is best used on lighter skin types. No prolonged sun exposure, tanning beds, or self tanners for 1-2 weeks prior to treatment. Discontinue retinols and other topical prescriptions 5-7 days before treatment.
The photothermal energy heats up the skin to stimulate new collagen production while simultaneously breaking up the pigment in age spots, sun damage, and redness. The treatment feels warm with very mild discomfort with no topical anesthetic necessary. The entire treatment is completed in about 30 minutes.
Patients may experience mild redness and flushing of the skin, which resolves in a few hours or up to 24 hours. The treated area may resemble a sunburn. Those getting treatment for dark spots and hyperpigmentation will experience a temporary darkening of those spots, which will flake and fade away within 1-2 weeks.
